BRADENTON - This past Sunday the Bradenton Herald spoke with TTLG attorney, Michael Vater, who went out of his way to show his support for the officers and civilians that were slain or wounded in the tragic ambush in Dallas last week that claimed the lives of five officers and wounded nine others (including seven police officers). A lifelong baseball fan, Vater chose to show his support by driving more than three hours to Bradenton, Florida where the Brevard County Manatees took on the Bradenton Marauders. Both teams arranged for proceeds from every single ticket to be donated directly to the Assist the Officers Foundation  whose goal is to provide support for those families who lost loved ones and to help provide care for those who were wounded.

Almost a week later, and we don't seem to be any closer to the why of it all, but what we have instead is an overwhelming sense of injury. Regardless of your opinion regarding the protests that preceded this horrific event, likely everyone can agree that attacks upon those who are tasked with our protection through service are utterly unacceptable. “I was really upset and horrified,” Vater said of the shootings. “I realized that those officers are essential to our society and keeping everything orderly and calm.”
