Q

Can I write a sentence describing the property I want my wife to get if I die then have the sentence and my signature notarized?

A

It’s great that you are thinking about a will, because it will be a very emotional and stressful time for your wife if you pass before her. There are some strict requirements for a valid will in Florida, one being that there have to be two witnesses when you sign it. You would also want to make sure the will is very specific as to the property so that there is no confusion what you are intending to leave her. One other thing to note is that your wife will automatically receive the property as your spouse, but just to make things easier and clearer, I recommend you go ahead and do a will.
