Q

If I file bankruptcy on my mortgage, can I still own my house?

A

I am not sure I fully understand your question.  If you do file for Chapter 7 or 13 bankruptcy there are ways in which you could keep your home.  In a Chapter 13, you could go on a plan to repay the past monies you owe on your mortgage and as a result hopefully keep the home.  With a Chapter 7, if you reaffirm the debt, you will be required to continue to make the payments on the mortgage outside of the bankruptcy.

If you have not filed for the bankruptcy yet, I suggest that you contact me to set up a meeting so we can discuss your options.  Bankruptcy can be a fresh new start for debtors, so if you have the right guidance and direction it can be a very good thing.  We are very cost effective and the best part is it will not cost you a dime to talk to me about your case.  The initial consultation is free.
