We are looking at purchasing a home. Can we have a lawyer examine the paperwork prior to us closing? If so, how much does that normally cost?
Yes! You can certainly have a lawyer go over all of the closing documents and any other paperwork before the closing, and even at the closing. You should schedule a consultation with me. I encourage you to have a lawyer for this, and that is something I can do for you. As far as cost, , we’d need to meet to discuss this in more detail. But if it’s a typical closing without much complication it would probably be in the range of $700 to $1,200. What is the purchase price of the house? Are you borrowing money and planning on making mortgage payments? Is there a closing date set yet? We can meet to discuss all of this and more, and there’s no charge for the consultation. Give me a call or email me and I can set that up for you.
